Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has backed out-of-form striker Andy Carroll to succeed at Liverpool.
The 23-year-old made a £35million move from St James' Park in January 2011 but has not replicated the goalscoring form he displayed whilst at Newcastle.
He has scored just eight goals for the Reds in 47 appearances but may start against his former club when the sides meet on Sunday.
Pardew managed Carroll before his move to Liverpool and ironically clinched a 3-1 win over Liverpool in his first game in charge with the striker on the score sheet for the Magpies.
And the former West Ham manager is convinced that Carroll will make a name for himself in world football.
Outstanding
He said: "One hundred per cent. He is an outstanding footballer who is having a difficult first season at a new club, no more than that.
"A lot of other players have had that situation with high price-tags.
"He is a very young man still, he has got a great career in front of him and I for one hope he has a chance on England duty one day.
"If you put the delivery in the right place and he times his run, he is undefendable.
"I said that when he was here and I am not going to change that opinion. You pick any centre-half in world football and Andy Carroll will score that particular goal."
