Liverpool midfielder targets England recall and Olympic spot

Jordan Henderson is keen to break back into the senior England squad and would also like to play at the Olympic Games this summer. The Liverpool midfielder has taken a lot of confidence from Sunday's Carling Cup success and impressed for the England Under 21s against Belgium on Wednesday. He recognises that he needs to be consistent to earn a recall to the senior side in time for Euro 2012, but has vowed to keep striving for improvement. "Winning the Carling Cup has given all the Liverpool players great confidence and I came into a confident side here so we were able to go and express ourselves," he said.

Opportunity

"I think I need to concentrate on the Under 21s first and Liverpool as well. "I need to play a little bit better to get into the senior squad, but I'll just keep working hard, trying to play well and maybe one day soon it will happen." The 21-year-old also confirmed he would jump at the chance to play for Great Britain at the Olympics this summer. "Of course, it's a massive opportunity to everyone that could be involved," he said. "Hopefully I get the opportunity to play in it."
