Liverpool striker handed new warning by England chief

Fabio Capello has warned Andy Carroll that it is up to him if he wants to win his place back in the England squad. Carroll was left out of the squad for the friendlies with Spain and Sweden despite the fact Wayne Rooney was rested by Capello. The England coach has questioned Carroll's lifestyle in the past and he has spoken to the player in private to offer him advice about staying in peak condition. The Liverpool hit-man, who has not started a game for England since the friendly with Ghana last March, appears to have fallen way down the pecking order in Capello's plans with the England chief using the games against Spain and Sweden to experiment and give some fringe players a chance to impress. Capello had once said Carroll was the future for England but, when asked about that statement, he said: "Yes, but that depends on him. Not on me."
