Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has credited the quality of his match-winning squad after securing a 1-0 win over Wigan.
Yossi Benayoun, who scored in the midweek Carling Cup win over Reading, came off the bench to strike a composed 75th minute winner to secure the victory for Liverpool at the JJB.
Benitez admits it was not a polished performance from his side, but is adamant Liverpool are progressing.
"You cannot say that the performance was really good," Benitez told Sky Sports News.
"But especially the first half we had control of everything and created chances.
"In the second half, we needed to change things and we used Benayoun and Andrei Voronin to try and keep the ball. Benayoun, between the lines, was a key player for us.
"The difference between one or two years ago is that we have more players with quality and they can change games.
"The team has the balance and defends well. We are attacking well too and that is the key."
