Liverpool, Arsenal, Fiorentina and Lyon are all reportedly following Auxerre's versatile defender Younes Kaboul.
The 21-year-old is highly regarded in France and is being tipped to become a mainstay in the national team in the future.
Kaboul has already attracted a host of admirers, although he is thought to favour a move to Lyon in the summer.
Reports in France suggest the player's agent has already begun negotiations with l'OL officials, while Auxerre would be willing to let him go for the right price.
Portsmouth were keen to sign Kaboul last summer, but now Liverpool and Arsenal are understood to have watched the starlet on several occasions.
Fiorentina also has first contact with Kaboul's entourage, but will face competition for the France Under 21 captain's signature.
Auxerre are rumoured to be demanding a fee in the region of é¼11million (£7.5million) for Kaboul.
