Charlton insist there have been no in-depth talks to sign Liverpool's Vladimir Smicer.
Charlton Athletic chairman Richard Murray insists there have been no in-depth talks to sign Liverpool midfielder Vladimir Smicer.The Czech Republic international is leaving Anfield at the end of his contract this month after marking the conclusion of his Liverpool career by scoring in the UEFA Champions League final.
Smicer has claimed that Charlton and Birmingham City are both interested in keeping him in The Premiership.
Former club Lens, along with fellow French side Bordeaux, are also sniffing around the 32-year-old, who has recovered from a serious injury to regain full fitness.
But Addicks supremo Murray is unaware of any negotiations to bring Smicer to The Valley, although he conceded it was possible there have been some talks.
"It's news to me," Murray told the club's official website regarding the Smicer interest.
"I'm not sure whether the managers have been talking.
"I am responsible for all transfers coming in and out of the club so eventually it has to come across my desk.
"I know of the player but I haven't had any contact."
Murray also downplayed the notion of Danish winger Dennis Rommedahl leaving the club over the summer.
Rommedahl has failed to set The Premiership alight since joining Charlton from PSV Eindhoven last year and he recently trained with his old club.
But, while Murray revealed there will be sales during the close season, Rommedahl's name is not on the list of expected departures.
He added: "I think Dennis has been linked with PSV because he was training there for an international match.
"I think what we've got to remember with Dennis is that he's shown glimpses of his form this year and very often players that come from abroad do take a year to settle so maybe we'll see a better Dennis Rommedahl next year.
"I expect him to be here."
