Tykes land Johnson

Barnsley have signed Leeds United striker Simon Johnson on loan.

Barnsley have signed Leeds United striker Simon Johnson on loan for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old has not figured in Kevin Blackwell's first team plans this season, having already spent time on loan with Championship high-flyers Sunderland and League One side Doncaster Rovers.

Johnson will now see out the current campaign with Paul Hart's side, as The Tykes look to push up the League One table.

Johnson follows another striker in Michael Ricketts in leaving Elland Road on loan, with the former Bolton Wanderers and Middlesbrough hit-man making his debut for Stoke City on Tuesday evening.

Another Leeds striker, Damien Reeves, has joined Conference club Scarborough on trial, with the youngster looking for pastures new after failing to make a breakthrough into the Elland Road first team.

One player that has arrived for a trial at Leeds is Newcastle United reserve goalkeeper Adam Bartlett, after Liverpool custodian Paul Harrison ended his loan spell with The Whites.
