Vignal knocks back Rangers

Rangers' on-loan stopper Gregory Vignal has rejected their offer of a contract.

Rangers' on-loan stopper Gregory Vignal has rejected their offer of a contract, and has stated that Marseille have a very strong chance of signing him.

The Liverpool player turned down Rangers officials after previously declaring himself happy at Ibrox, and now appears to be holding out for the money he feels he deserves.

The 23-year-old failed to make an impression at Anfield after being purchased by previous boss Gerard Houllier, although he has put in some good performances north of the Border.

Vignal has not ruled out further negotiations with the Scottish giants, although warned that if Marseille came in with a good offer he would be severely tempted.

"I have rejected the Rangers offer," said Vignal.

"It doesn't match what I expected considering the season I am having and the interest I have attracted.

"I hope to receive a second proposition later this week, the door remains opened, I have a very good relationship with Alex McLeish.

"Anyway something will happen, Liverpool won't cause any trouble if I want to leave.

"About Rangers, it is difficult to keep a player who wants to leave, above all if I have a very interesting proposition from l'OM."
