Reds accept Spurs' Murphy bid

Liverpool have accepted a bid from Tottenham for Danny Murphy.

Danny Murphy could be on his way out of Liverpool after the club accepted a bid from Tottenham for the creative midfielder.

Spurs boss Jacques Santini is keen to strengthen his midfield and he clearly sees Murphy as a player capable of adding craft to his engine room.

New Reds boss Rafa Benitez is keen to stamp his own mark on the club and it would appear Murphy will be allowed to move on by the Spanish tactician.

Liverpool have confirmed a £3 million bid has been accepted for the England international and it would appear as if the former Crewe man will head to London to discuss terms with Spurs this week.

There could well be added interest for the 27-year-old, as both Charlton and Liverpool's Merseyside rivals Everton are also thought to be monitoring the situation.

Murphy was on the periphery of the Anfield team last term, although he did produce a sparking display against Manchester United, and it would appear as if Steven Gerrard and Dietmar Hamann are Benitez's preferred options in the middle of the park, deeming him surplus to requirements.
