Blues set for Ancelotti date in July

Chelsea are set to play the first ever football match at New York's new Yankee Stadium during their US summer tour. The Blues will take on Paris St Germain at the home of the New York Yankees baseball team on July 22. Yankee Stadium, which opened in 2009, will hold 54,000 spectators once configured for football. It will be Chelsea's first game in New York since 1954 and the second game of their US tour, with the club also announcing their final fixture would be against AC Milan at Sun Life Stadium in Miami on July 28. They had already confirmed matches against Seattle Sounders at CenturyLink Field on July 18 and MLS All Stars at PPL Park, Philadelphia, on July 25.

Reunion

But it is the Yankee Stadium date with PSG that will be seen as the most appealing - not least because it brings a reunion with former manager Carlo Ancelotti, now in charge at the French club. Ex-Chelsea star Claude Makelele is also with PSG as an assistant to Ancelotti, while former defender Alex is on the playing staff. Chief executive Ron Gourlay told the club's official website: "Chelsea Football Club is delighted to be heading to New York after such a long time away, and it will be a real pleasure to visit Yankee Stadium for what is sure to be a competitive game. "Paris St Germain represents a true test for us in our preparations for the new season. "We know Carlo well and respect the superb job he did for us, and continues to do in France. It should be a fantastic game."
