Brazilian defender feeling settled at Stamford Bridge

David Luiz claims to be happy in English football at Chelsea, with there no intention on his part to head for pastures new any time soon. The Brazil international moved to Stamford Bridge in January 2011 after a sizeable fee was paid to Benfica for his services. His South American roots have made life difficult at times, with a desire to play his way out from the back causing him unnecessary problems. Luiz is, however, only 24 years old and is still getting to grips with life at a new club, in a new city and in a new sporting culture. He insists he is enjoying the challenge put to him, and his recent performances suggest he is maturing with each passing game.

Pressure

Reports have suggested that he could be lured away to Barcelona once the transfer window re-opens, with the game in Spain more suited to his way of thinking, but Luiz insists he is determined to prove himself in the Premier League. "I'm very happy in London, I like London and Chelsea," he said in the Evening Standard. "I like England and playing in the Premier League. "I play for a big club and when you play for a big club the pressure is so hard. But when you win you are the best and a hero, that is normal."
