Seagulls upset Toon, Tubbs the hero for Crawley, Kuyt knocks out United, Mata spot-on

Liverpool and Chelsea booked their places in the fifth round of the FA Cup, while Brighton upset Newcastle. Brighton dumped Newcastle out of the cup with a 1-0 win over the Premier League side at the Amex Stadium. Will Buckley's deflected late goal proved to be enough to give Championship Brighton a famous win. Buckley grabbed the winner 13 minutes from time when his shot took a deflection off Mike Williamson to deceive Tim Krul. League Two Crawley caused the shock of the day with a 1-0 victory over Championship outfit Hull at the KC Stadium. Prolific striker Matt Tubbs was the hero for Crawley with the winner on 57 minutes to send them into the fifth round of the cup for a second successive season. Substitute Dirk Kuyt's late strike earned Liverpool a 2-1 win over bitter rivals Manchester United at Anfield to complete a memorable week for Kenny Dalglish's men. Fresh from booking their place in the Carling Cup final the Reds dumped United out of the FA Cup as Kuyt struck the winner two minutes from time. Off-field matters dominated proceedings before the game as the old foes met for the first time since Luis Suarez was banned for racially abusing Patrice Evra. Liverpool broke the deadlock on 21 minutes when Daniel Agger grabbed a rare goal as he headed home from a corner. United drew level six minutes before the break when Park Ji-sung swept home Rafael's cross from the right after a mistake in the home defence by Jose Enrique. There was little in the way of goalmouth action in the second half and it seemed the game was heading for a replay until Evra failed to deal with Andy Carroll's flick-on and Kuyt latched onto the ball before drilling his shot under David de Gea two minutes from time. Chelsea got the better of Queens Park Rangers with Juan Mata's controversial penalty giving Andre Villas-Boas' side a 1-0 victory at Loftus Road. Much of the focus on the game was on the Chelsea captain John Terry and QPR defender Anton Ferdinand in the wake of their racism row in the Premier League meeting between the sides in October, but there was no flashpoint between the pair. Chelsea were awarded their hotly-disputed penalty just past the hour mark after Clint Hill was adjudged to have fouled Daniel Sturridge and Mata made no mistake from the spot to send Chelsea into the last 16. Last season's losing finalists Stoke kept alive their hopes of a return to Wembley with a 2-0 success over Derby at Pride Park to send Tony Pulis' men into the fifth round. Stoke got off to a flying start when in-from striker Cameron Jerome fired them in front after just five minutes and Robert Huth put the game beyond Derby with a second goal nine minutes from time. Bolton came from behind to overcome fellow Premier League side Swansea 2-1 at the Reebok Stadium. Swansea hit the front two minutes before the break when Luke Moore found the net, but former Swan Darren Pratley came back to haunt his old club with the equaliser for Bolton right on the stroke of half-time. Chris Eagles fired Swansea in front on 56 minutes when he reacted quickest to score after Swansea keeper Gerhard Tremmel could only parry Martin Petrov's shot. Norwich secured their second win in two weeks over West Brom with a 2-1 victory at the Hawthorns to book their spot in the last 16. Grant Holt opened the scoring for Norwich on 35 minutes, but Marc-Antoine Fortune drew West Brom level on 54 minutes. Simeon Jackson netted the winner for Norwich five minutes from time to send Paul Lambert's troops into the fifth round. Birmingham proved too strong for Sheffield United after a convincing 4-0 win at Bramall Lane. Highly-rated teenager Nathan Redmond set Birmingham on their way with the opener after 18 minutes and Adam Rooney doubled the lead 20 minutes later. Wade Elliott made it 3-0 just before the hour mark and Rooney completed the rout with his second goal of the contest 12 minutes from time. Leicester ended Swindon's cup dreams with a 2-0 victory at the King Power Stadium. Jermaine Beckford was the hero for the home side with both goals to send Nigel Pearson's men into Sunday's cup draw. Kevin Phillips' last-gasp penalty rescued Blackpool a replay with League One Sheffield Wednesday after a 1-1 draw at Bloomfield Road. Clinton Morrison looked to have secured a second successive Championship scalp for Wednesday with the opener on 52 minutes, but Phillips kept his cool from the spot in the final minute to deny Gary Megson's men. Gary Smith got off to a winning start as Stevenage boss with a 1-0 win over fellow League One side Notts County. Damion Stewart's unfortunate own goal proved to be enough to send Stevenage into the fifth round of the cup for the first time. Darius Henderson's late goal earned Millwall a replay against Southampton after a 1-1 draw at the Den. Rickie Lambert marked his return from suspension with the opener on 31 minutes and that looked like being enough for Southampton before the in-form Henderson levelled matters for the home side four minutes from time.
