Uli Hoeness says Bayern could struggle to compete with Chelsea for reported target Yuri Zhirkov.

Hoeness concedes Chelsea would win Zhirkov race

Uli Hoeness has conceded Bayern Munich could struggle to financially compete with Chelsea when the transfer window reopens. Reports claim Bayern are likely to be in the market for a new full-back in the summer, with St Etienne's Mouhamadou Dabo and CSKA Moscow's Yuri Zhirkov mooted as potential targets. But Premier League giants Chelsea have also been linked with Zhirkov, and Bayern general manager Hoeness admits the club would be likely to miss out on the Russian. Hoeness told kicker-Sportmagazin: "According to some reports, Zhirkov is also seriously interesting Chelsea. "If so, we have no chance. Besides, the Blues are now managed by (Russia manager) Guus Hiddink." Meanwhile, Bayern are keeping tabs on Sweden international Rasmus Elm, who is currently contracted to Kalmar FF, and could bid for the midfielder in the summer.
