Del Piero rumours persist

Alessandro Del Piero is tipped to stay at Juventus, despite rumours about an exit.

Alessandro Del Piero is tipped to stay at Juventus, despite persistent rumours linking him with a summer move to The Premiership.

Speculation in Italy suggests that Del Piero could be squeezed out of Stadio Delle Alpi, if Juve sign Roma ace Antonio Cassano at the end of the season.

Cassano would be a direct replacement for Del Piero and his signing could spell the end of the 30-year-old's Juve career.

Del Piero has spent over a decade with the Turin giants but has endured a fitful season since Fabio Capello became coach last summer.

Reports claim that, should Capello bring in Cassano, then Del Piero would be sold, with a switch to England the most likely option.

The talismanic attacker would purportedly like to move abroad if he leaves Juve and The Premiership is his preferred destination.

However, his mammoth wages would mean that only The Premiership's biggest three clubs could afford Del Piero.

Manchester United are unlikely to alter their attack in the summer, while even though Arsenal and Chelsea may be able to stump up the wages for Del Piero, they may err on the side of caution.

But despite the constant speculation about Del Piero's future, the sensible money seems to be on the Italy international remaining with the club.

Del Piero has again come to the fore in recent weeks as Juve challenge Milan for the title and he is likely to remain a key figure at Stadio Delle Alpi.
