Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan may stay at the club under new coach Thomas Tuchel, according to the player’s agent.

The Germany international said in April he would not be renewing his contract, which runs out next summer, and Manchester United were closing in on a move, according to Sky sources.

But Gundogan’s agent – and uncle – Ilhan Gundogan, told Sueddeutsche Zeitung the 24-year-old could be set to make a U-turn and commit to the Bundesliga side.

"This is clearly an option again,” he said.

"There are several things in favour of Ilkay finding (a way) back to his old level and doing that in a familiar, comfortable environment."

Gundogan had been out of action for 14 months before returning from a back injury in December last year.
