Manchester United have denied rumours that new striker Radamel Falcao has lied about his age.

Falcao, who signed a season-long loan deal from Monaco on transfer deadline day, has rubbished claims he is 30 rather 28.

Rumours have surrounded the Colombia international for some time and in 2013 he addressed the matter on Twitter insisting the speculation was 'completely ridiculous'.

The striker has also previously released a copy of his birth certificate in a bid to prove his age and United claim they are not concerned by the latest revelations.

"We were aware of the rumours at the time and it was never an issue," a club spokesman said.

Falcao could make his United debut in Sunday's Barclays Premier League home clash with QPR, live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 3.30pm.
