Robin van Persie is confident there is more to come after scoring his first goal for Manchester United in the 3-2 win over Fulham.
The Dutch striker joined United from Arsenal last week and he made his debut as a substitute in Monday night's 1-0 defeat at Everton.
He was handed his first start for the Red Devils' opening home game of the campaign against Fulham and he swept home a stunning equaliser on 10 minutes.
After a fitful pre-season following his decision not to sign a new contract at Arsenal, Van Persie admits he is still building up his match fitness at the same time as trying to gel with his new team-mates.
Confident
"Honestly, from day one, everyone has been making me feel at home and has been trying very hard," Van Persie told
Sky Sports. "The players have been very nice to me, the fans as well, and in Manchester if I go out for a meal everyone has been very helpful towards me.
"I've only been here a week and we have to get used to each other a bit more in the next period, which will happen.
"We have good proper sessions every day in training, so we can get used to each other - me to them, and them to me.
"I need a bit more time for me personally to get fully match fit because it's my first game in a long time. We have to get used to each other more and I'm very confident that will happen."
Describing his first goal for the club, Van Persie added: "It was very good, we got three points which is the main thing and what we're here for.
"I scored a good goal and it's always good to score an early good goal on your debut. It was a difficult goal. It was a good cross from Patrice Evra, but it bounced just before me and I had to time it well, which I did.
"Most of those sort of shots go over or wide because it's a very tight angle and everything needs to be right. Luckily enough it went in."
