Defender to pen four-year deal after leaving Old Trafford

Sky Sports understands Manchester United defender Ezekiel Fryers has agreed a deal to join Tottenham. Sky Sports revealed back in April that Tottenham were leading the chase for Fryers after he turned down a new deal at Old Trafford. Fryers' contract expired earlier this summer and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admitted earlier this week he was in the dark over the player's future The 19-year-old, who has come through the youth ranks at United, made six first-team appearances for the Red Devils last season, making his full debut in the Carling Cup win over Leeds. Tottenham are thought to be long-term admirers of Fryers with his versatility in being able to play left-back or centre-back making him an attractive proposition. New Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has given the go-ahead to push through the move and Fryers is expected to become the latest new face at White Hart Lane. Fryers is believed to have agreed a four-year deal at Tottenham and is expected to finalise the move in the next few days. United will be due a compensation fee for Fryers and, if they are unable to agree a deal with Spurs, the move could go to a transfer tribunal to decide the fee for the player's switch to North London.
