Greek defender claims to be unaware of Man Utd interest

Kyriakos Papadopoulos is flattered to hear of reports linking him with a move to Manchester United, but says he feels settled at Schalke. Speculation has suggested that the Greece international could emerge as a possible transfer target for Sir Alex Ferguson this summer. At just 20 years of age, Papadopoulos is considered to be a hot prospect for the future. He has already turned out for Olympiakos and Schalke, in both domestic and continental competition, and is currently away on Euro 2012 duty with his country. Papadopoulos is delighted to learn that he is considered good enough to turn out for a club of the size and stature of United, but admits there is no substance to the rumours as far as he is aware. "I don't know if there is any interest from Manchester United," he told Sky Sports. "It's an honour for me to hear that such a big club likes my football, but at the moment I don't know anything about it. "Of course I would like to someday play for Manchester United, but I am a player of Schalke and I am focused on them."

Feeling

Papadopoulos is keen to put club discussions to one side for now, with his focus locked on Euro 2012. Greece have taken just one point from their opening two fixtures, but could still make the knockout stage. "I am very happy to be a member of the national team at such a big competition, at my age," added Papadopoulos. "I have played a lot of games in European competitions such as the Champions League and Europa League with Schalke, but the feeling here is unique. "I hope to beat Russia and play in the next round."
