United boss relishing challenge of next season

Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Manchester City that he is already looking ahead to another Premier League title battle next season. Manchester United need their local rivals to slip up at home to QPR on the final day of the season if they are to snatch the crown as they are currently adrift on goal difference. The Red Devils travel to Sunderland having seen their eight-point lead evaporate in recent weeks, culminating in their derby defeat at the Etihad Stadium last month. City are closing in on their first top-flight crown in 44 years and, backed by the millions of Sheikh Mansour, it appears Roberto Mancini's men are on course for a period of domestic dominance. But Ferguson, who has brought an unprecedented haul of silverware to Old Trafford during his career, insists that he and United are 'not going away'.

Challenge

Ferguson told reporters: "Am I gearing up for next season? Yes, I think I am. I'll be fine next season. "We're not going away and I'm not either. You'd better let them know across the road. "We just accept it as a challenge. We've done that well over the years and we'll just do exactly the same. "It's not a club that's afraid of that. We've always been able to accept that and it's a challenge for me too. I don't mind a challenge. "Is that what keeps me going? Definitely. It's taken three years off me and I'm feeling younger already!"
