Manchester United full-back Fabio has revealed his interest in sealing a loan move to Benfica.

United full-back would be happy with switch to Portugal

Manchester United full-back Fabio has revealed his interest in sealing a loan move to Benfica. The Brazil international is wanted on loan by the Portuguese giants and his agent has already confirmed that talks have taken place. It now looks as though Fabio, who has struggled to make as big an impact as his brother Rafael at Old Trafford, looks set to agree a season-long move to the Estadio da Luz. "I know Benfica, we watch many of their games in Brazil. In fact, everyone in Brazil follows Benfica's games - it is a good club and would be very good for me, no doubt," he told Maisfutebol. Fabio insists that a deal has yet to be finalised and that any move would only be concluded at the end of the season. "I will definitely know my future at the end of the season," he continued. "For now I know that people are talking, but nothing is certain. I have not talked with anyone from Benfica, I am waiting for everything to be right."

Portuguese

The 21-year-old believes the fact he speaks Portuguese would help him settle quickly. "I have a Portuguese passport, and speak the same language. The adjustment would be easy. There would be no problems, I think," he said. "Portugal would be a good solution for me. I follow some of the league and I know Portuguese teams, because they are always good in European competition." One potential issue is the fact that for the first time in their careers the former Fluminese starlets would be separated. "It will be difficult," he admitted. "We are never going to be separate, but this is football, one day it has to happen. Sooner or later this would happen because in football it is not easy being side by side forever."
