Sir Alex Ferguson has paid tribute to Blackburn counterpart Steve Kean and the manner in which he has gone about his business this season.
It has not been the easiest of campaigns for the occupant of the Ewood Park hot-seat, with a slow start sparking supporter unrest and regular protests against the management and board.
Kean refused to bow to public pressue, though, and has battled bravely to steer Rovers away from relegation trouble.
With only three points separating them from the drop zone it is still feasible that they could slip through the Premier League trapdoor, but the outlook is considerably brighter now than it was a few months ago.
Ferguson is pleased to see Kean's perseverance paying off, with the Manchester United boss having stood by his fellow Scot throughout a turbulent time for the Red Devils' North West neighbours.
Praise
"It just shows you how things can change when you dig in and don't let things get to you," Ferguson said ahead of United's trip to Ewood Park on Monday.
"Now, no-one talks about their fans and any protests.
"He (Kean) has held his dignity very well and deserves praise from everyone including his own supporters.
"I'm sure a lot of them will be wishing they hadn't done that because he's certainly shown his mettle during those times when things were difficult for him."
