Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is hoping to equal or better Edwin van der Sar's contribution at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman called time on his illustrious career over the summer following a trophy-laden spell with the Red Devils.
Van der Sar was a hugely popular player among fans after helping the club win no less than 11 trophies under Sir Alex Ferguson.
United spent big on talented Spanish youngster De Gea and the 21-year-old has failed to make an immediate impression.
De Gea has conceded 26 goals in 19 games while rival shot-stopper Anders Lindegaard has kept six consecutive clean sheets.
Determination
However, the former Atletico Madrid keeper's resolve remains undiminished and he is determined to emulate the Dutchman's record.
"Hopefully, I'll equal or even surpass the performance and contribution Edwin made," said De Gea, whose blunder sent United to defeat against Blackburn on New Year's Eve.
"Let's face it, all keepers make mistakes once in a while, and none of us like it when we do.
"Errors happen but I've gone on to be more confident. The style of play here is more physical and as a goalkeeper you've got to be right on it."
