Midfielder hoping to overcome thigh injury

Roma midfielder Simone Perrotta is hoping to be fit for the UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester United. The World Cup winner, who was born in Ashton-Under-Lyne, suffered a thigh injury during the 4-1 Serie A defeat to Internazionale on Saturday. But Perrotta, who scored against Inter, has been included in coach Luciano Spalletti's squad for Tuesday's Old Trafford encounter.

Hope

Roma are eager to erase the memory of last season's 7-1 humbling at the hands of Sir Alex Ferguson's side, a match Perrotta missed out on. He said: "I really want to play. I felt a pain in my thigh but I will undergo further tests and I hope to be available to play." Spalletti has called on his side to move on from their weekend defeat when they suffered at home following the early dismissal of Ludovic Giuly.
Strong
He said: "We must forget our defeat to Inter and bounce back straight away. "We are jumping into a completely different reality on Tuesday and we must be strong mentally." Cicinho could come back into the side to replace defender Christian Panucci but Brazilian midfielder Rodrigo Taddei is another injury victim.
