Ferguson to condition Nani

Alex Ferguson will be focusing on improving Nani's form ahead of the new season.

Alex Ferguson will be focusing on improving Nani's form ahead of the new season.

The 20-year-old Portuguese player scored and posted another impressive performance in the 3-0 win over Guangzhou Pharmaceuticals.

An ankle injury had prevented Nani from making his debut before the friendly with Shenzhen this week, a game in which he also scored.

When asked how the youngster is settling in, boss Ferguson said: "There's no problem. He needs a lot of work; he has not had a lot of endurance work but there will be plenty of games for him before the season starts."

Cristiano Ronaldo did not feature until late on in the game due to a stubbed toe suffered whilst training with Chinese striker Dong Fangzhuo picking up an injury as the Red Devils now head home from China.

"Dong got an ankle injury which we will assess on Saturday," Ferguson said.

"We wanted to give Tomasz Kuszczak a chance (in place of Edwin van der Sar) and give Ryan (Giggs) a break."

Ferguson also now hopes to tie up the transfer of Carlos Tevez on his return to the UK.

"I just hope the Tevez thing is concluded quickly, we all hope for that. That is the main issue for us."
