Hammers sign Bellion

West Ham manager Alan Pardew has sealed the loan capture of David Bellion.

Skysports.com can confirm that Manchester United forward David Bellion has agreed to join West Ham on loan.

The deal has been pushed through by Alan Pardew even though the player is still not back to full fitness.

The Hammers want another striker to increase their options at Upton Park and the Frenchman has caught Pardew's attention.

Bellion broke his leg towards the end of last season, just when he was gaining some momentum in the reserve side at Old Trafford, and his fitness must still be a slight concern for his new club.

"Yes, David has signed a one-year loan deal with West Ham," his agent Mike Morris told skysports.com.

"It is not with a view to a permanent deal as he will go back to Manchester United at the end of the season.

"Sir Alex Ferguson just wants him to go out and get regular football and get some Premiership experience.

"He is currently recovering from injury, but David is confident he will be fit to return to action in three weeks.

"David is looking forward to joining up with West Ham as he wants to be playing regularly and this is a good chance for him."

With Sir Alex Ferguson stumping up £3 million to bring the raw, leggy attacker to the club from Sunderland, where he was never a first team regular, it is fair to say Bellion has struggled to justify the price tag.

Although scoring on his debut on tour, he struggled to impress and reportedly reacted angrily to being substituted in the goalless draw with Exeter City in the FA Cup last term when appearing as the lone striker.

It led to the 22-year-old spending some time in the Pontin's reserve team, presumably as punishment, before being granted a route back into the all-conquering Premier League reserve side towards the end of the campaign. However, he was injured in one of the final games.

Bellion did score the winner in the Carling Cup victory over Arsenal and his pace could prove an asset for West Ham, as they have confirmed the signing on a season-long basis.
