The 22-year-old has attracted interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid but will not be moving in January.
Arsene Wenger, despite denying any intention of bringing Essien to Highbury, is rumoured to be keen to land the African ace this month.
However, l'OL general director Marino Faccioli insists any bids will be rebuffed.
"We know those rumours but, so far, we have yet to receive any official offer," he told France Football.
"So we consider that it is only rumours."
Essien will cost in the region of ‚é¼15 million when he does finally leave Stade Gerland, but that is most likely to be in the summer.
Lyon are considering possible replacements already with Sochaux's Jeremy Mathieu a top target.
The 21-year-old has admirers in England and Spain but also seems unlikely to move before the close season.
