Crespo back for Argentina

Hernan Crespo and Javier Saviola are back in the Argentina squad.

Hernan Crespo and Javier Saviola are back in the Argentina squad after new coach Jose Pekerman selected his first squad in charge.

Saviola had not been a favourite under old coach Marcelo Bielsa, but is back in the fold after he quit as national team boss last month.

The Barcelona man, on loan at Monaco, now returns for his country as they host Uruguay on Saturday and then travel to Chile on October 13.

Milan's Chelsea loanee Crespo also makes a return to the squad, as Pekerman takes charge of his first game as Argentina boss.

Former Under-20 coach Pekerman has called up striking sensation Carlos Tevez, after the Boca Juniors marksman impressed during the Olympics.

Fellow 20-year-old Javier Mascherano has also been included in the squad, along with River Plate team-mate Luis Gonzalez.

Pekerman is thrown in at the deep end with Uruguay visiting Buenos Aires on Saturday before the trip to Santiago to face Chile.

Argentina are currently second in the South American World Cup qualifying group, and Pekerman will be hoping for a good start to his tenure with a win at home.
