City sign United keeper

Manchester United have allowed Luke Steele to join Coventry.

Manchester United have allowed the second of their youngsters to depart for Coventry City on a temporary basis.

Luke Steele, a promising keeper signed from Peterborough United, will trade United's reserves for Championship football after agreeing to join Peter Reid's Sky Blues in a three-month loan deal.

With forward Eddie Johnson already at Highfield Road, the 19-year-old will immediately have a familiar face alongside him in the West Midlands.

Reid continues to look to improve his squad following the sale of Calum Davenport and Steele's arrival will put pressure on Scott Shearer for the goalkeeping slot at the club.

Johnson has made an impressive start to his season-long loan, scoring twice for City, including a deserved effort on his debut against Sunderland on the opening day.
