Silvestre backs transfer moves

MANCHESTER UNITED defender Mikael Silvestre has backed the club's summer transfer activity with Ronaldinho set to replace David Beckham.

The England captain is one of the best crossers in the world, while Ronaldinho prefers to play through the middle of the park.

Silvestre believes the Old Trafford side have always been astute in their signings in the past, with arrivals the perfect replacements for their respective departures.

"It won't change the balance of the team very much," explained Silvestre to The Sun. "Ronaldinho and Beckham do not play in the same position.

"I have not got a clue about Beckham's transfer, but what I can say is United have always been very wise in their recruiting from one season to the next.

"There are only one or two players signed and the signings are carefully made."
