Davide Baiocco, who plays for Perugia, has had an impressive season for the unfancied side, and has become a target of several sides - including United and Italian giants Juventus.
The 26-year-old midfielder has teamed up well with the likes of Italian internationals Marco Materazzi and Fabio Liverani - and is only one of the side's stars to attract admiration from other clubs.
Manchester United are in the process of rebuilding, and have been linked with a succession of Italian-based players, including Empoli duo Marco Marchionni and Massimo Maccarone.
Baiocco would not be a cheap option, as the player has been wisely contracted up until 2006 by Perugia who are no strangers to having to sell their best talents.
