Liverpool were seven points adrift of fourth place on New Year’s Day but a remarkable run of results at the start of 2015 has propelled them to within striking distance of the Champions League qualifying spots.
Brendan Rodgers’ side top the form table since the turn of the year after taking 17 points from a possible 21 and are now just two points behind Manchester United. In fact, the Reds haven’t lost in the Premier League since their 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford on December 14.
In contrast, Arsenal, who are second in the 2015 form table, have suffered losses against Southampton and Tottenham this year.
At the other end of the form table Aston Villa have managed just one point in 2015 and have lost their last six in a row, while QPR have fared little better, with four points to their name since the start of January.
