Scott Sinclair has joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan from Manchester City, with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer.

The winger joined City from Swansea in 2012 but has made just 19 appearances since, featuring in only four matches this season.

Sinclair, who spent last season on loan at West Bromwich, told Villa's official website: "It feels great to be here and the deal is finally done,"

"It's taken a few weeks but I'm happy to be here, to be in the building and to be signing for the club and ready to play some football. It's nice to be able to get settled somewhere and be a part of something going forward.

I'm looking forwarding to getting started, hopefully playing every week and enjoying my football.

"I spoke to the manager, Paul Lambert, and he gave me his views on what he wants from me here at Villa. I am still hungry to play football, that's what I told him, and I'm looking forwarding to getting started, hopefully playing every week and enjoying my football.

"I believe I have my best years ahead of me. This is a new challenge, a new chapter in my life, and hopefully I can settle in as quickly as possible, have a good start and go from there."

New Villa loanee Scott Sinclair says he has no regrets about joining Man City

Villa boss Lambert was delighted to finalise the deal with just three days of the transfer windown remaining.

'Outstanding'

"I knew a lot about Scott from his time at Swansea, where he was excellent at Championship level and then was outstanding in their first season in the Premier League," he said.

"He got a great move to Manchester City, where it didn't work out as well as he probably would have wanted, but it's up to us now to get the best out of him.

Villa boss Paul Lambert says Sinclair is a fantastic player and can be a great signing for the club

"He's got great ability and I'm looking forward to working with him. His goal record for a winger while he was at Swansea was excellent so he can add goals to the side, and he's got great pace as everyone knows about.

"I think he'll add something to the side and I'm delighted we've managed to get him here."

Sinclair's loan deal could pave the way for fellow-winger Jack Grealish to join Nottingham Forest on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old signed a four-year deal at Villa Park last September but has failed to hold down a regular place in Lambert's struggling side.
