Hull boss Steve Bruce says he has no intention of making a £4m bid for Rudy Gestede

Striker Rudy Gestede is unhappy that his club Blackburn are demanding at least £6m for him in the January transfer window, Sky sources understand.

Crystal Palace had a bid for Gestede rejected last week, and Hull City and West Brom are being put off by the price tag.

And sources say Gestede - who is fit but agreed to sit out Saturday's Sky Bet Championship match at Wigan because of the transfer interest - is frustrated that Rovers are asking so much.

After the 1-1 draw at the DW Stadium, Rovers boss Gary Bowyer said: "There's a Premier League club in discussions with the club - but the club quite rightly doesn't want to sell him on the cheap.

"If nothing is concluded over the weekend, we'll have him back in work on Monday, and we'll continue to have him available for the rest of our games and scoring more goals.

"Talks have taken place over the last 24 hours and we decided to focus on this game with the players we knew would be available."

Hull boss Steve Bruce confirmed on Saturday that he has ended his interest in the big 26-year-old Benin international.

"I called Gary two or three days ago to clarify the situation and we talked briefly. It was a non-starter before we got anywhere," said Bruce.

"I enquired about him and the answer came back, not at the sort of figures we’re talking about. It’s not going to happen."
