Emanuele Giaccherini claims to be happy at Sunderland amid talk of a return to his native Italy at Fiorentina.
The Italy international admits to having been targeted by the Florence-based outfit in the past, but is unaware of any interest in the current transfer window.
He is also quick to point out that he is not looking for a move, with a long-term contract penned upon his arrival in England.
Giaccherini intends to honour that agreement and prove his worth in the Premier League before contemplating a homecoming in Serie A.
He told fiorentina.it: “Fiorentina have followed me in the past but I have never had concrete contact.
“I’m happy at Sunderland. I have three more years on my contract.
“I’m enjoying this experience in England and this season I hope to do better than last year. I completed a full pre-season and the coach knows me better now.
“A future in Fiorentina? Florence is a city I love, I was born 50km from Florence. If there is a possibility in the future, why not?”
