Swansea have confirmed the appointment of Michael Laudrup after handing the Dane a two-year contract at the Liberty Stadium.
A number of names have been linked with the role since Brendan Rodgers left to take charge of Liverpool a fortnight ago.
Chairman Huw Jenkins made it clear that he wanted to move quickly to get a new man on board, and Laudrup has now been handed the reins.
One of Jenkins' main goals was to identify somebody who could build on Rodgers' good work and take the club forward with the same ethos.
Laudrup certainly shares the footballing philosophy that was evident in Swansea's maiden Premier League campaign, having been influenced by Johan Cruyff.
Opportunity
The 48-year-old spent time with Barcelona and Real Madrid during his playing career and was regarded as one of the finest talents of his generation.
Since moving into management, he has spent time at the helm of Brondby, Getafe, Spartak Moscow and Mallorca.
Laudrup will now have the opportunity to test himself in the Premier League and will hope to maintain the considerable progress Swansea have made over the past few years.
The Swans comfortably stayed up last term as they finished 11th, while they also earned rave reviews for playing a vibrant style of football.
