Celtic boss Lennon confident over retaining goalkeeper

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is confident that he can retain the services of goalkeeper Fraser Forster on a permanent basis. The shot-stopper is in his second loan spell at Parkhead from Newcastle and was part of the title-winning celebrations at Kilmarnock last weekend. He may also be part of a Scottish Cup double if the Hoops manage to beat Hearts and reach the final on Sunday. Forster has been integral to Celtic's success this season, helping them achieve 20 clean sheets in just 33 Scottish Premier League games. Lennon has distanced himself from making a move for Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon but admitted his desire to keep hold of Forster.

Negotiations

He said: "We are hoping to speak to his agent and Fraser himself in the next few weeks. "He knows we are very keen to get things tied up with him as he has had a fantastic two seasons here. "The feeling he may have got on Saturday... I think it would be very difficult for him to leave here now. "He is making all the right noises at the minute so it is a case of getting things sorted out."
