Blues boss also hopeful on title chances

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas hailed John Terry as 'extraordinary' following his performance against Tottenham. Terry, who was in the spotlight after being charged by the Crown Prosecution Service for allegedly racially abusing Anton Ferdinand, was given a tough night at White Hart Lane by the home fans with his every touch being jeered. The Blues skipper put his off-the-field problems behind him as he helped Chelsea to a crucial point with a vital goal-line clearance from Emmanuel Adebayor in the closing stages. Villas-Boas was full of praise for his captain and believes Terry's level of performance has actually increased since the incident with Ferdinand in October against Queens Park Rangers "He showed his character and strength of personality playing for the collective; he was extraordinary," insisted Villas-Boas. "His commitment and concentration increased as well. "His performances have increased since the incident happened. His commitment, quality and talent are never in doubt. He's completely focused to the cause of this football club.

Title race

The draw leaves Chelsea 11 points behind leaders Manchester City, but Villas-Boas is adamant they are still in contention for the title. "I think we can still win it," added Villas-Boas "We came to Tottenham, a side who are title challengers, so it's a good point to get. "We've been in worse situations before and recovered to seven points. I'm sure we can shorten the distance."
