Salgado - Real bigger than City

Michel Salgado claims Manchester City will never have the same pulling power as his old club Real Madrid.

Full back puts boot into Premier League rivals

Michel Salgado claims Manchester City will never have the same pulling power as his old club Real Madrid. The veteran Blackburn full-back, 35, says the pressure is firmly on cash-happy City to claim more silverware after splashing out £38million for Argentina star Sergio Aguero. But he insists money alone will not guarantee the world's biggest stars go flocking to Eastlands. Salgado reckons City's millions will never compete with the rich history of Spanish giants Real.

Past

He said: "City need to win trophies now as quickly as possible. "They have the money but the history of Real is different. "They have a great past and are the best team in the world over the last century. "If you ask a player to sign for Real you join, perhaps, the best club in the world for history or City, which is the most powerful in terms of money."
