Injury-plagued midfielder to sign contract extension

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed Ferrie Bodde is close to agreeing a contract extension. The Dutchman has not played since February 2010 due to ongoing knee problems, but Rodgers is convinced he is worthy of a fresh offer, despite his injury concerns. Bodde, whose contract expires in the summer, has made just four appearances for the club since snapping his cruciate ligament in November 2008. However, the Swans are reluctant to release a player who was once the most sought-after in the Championship, with Rodgers keeping an eye on his progress in training. Rodgers told the Evening Post: "Ferrie is close to agreeing a new deal and I am delighted to see him back."
