Wolves pair set to miss derby

Wolves duo Kevin Doyle and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake are set to miss Sunday's derby with West Brom.

Doyle and Ebanks-Blake remain doubtful for Sunday's showdown

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has revealed that Kevin Doyle and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake are set to remain out for the Black Country derby with West Brom. Doyle hasn't featured since March due to a knee injury while fellow frontman Ebanks-Blake has missed the last two games with a hamstring problem. And although the strike pair have returned to light training, McCarthy does not expect them to be back in contention for another week and the last two games of the season against Sunderland and Blackburn. "Doyle was out training today and we're still hopeful he will be right for the last two games," he told the Express & Star. "Just watching him today with the physios, he's not 100 per cent, but he's training well." Asked if Doyle has any chance of being fit for the Albion clash, McCarthy added: "I doubt it, I don't think either of them will be fit for Sunday.

Hope

"If one of them improves sufficiently, then that would be fantastic. But it's not something I'm planning on - I'm hoping, not planning. "Kevin did a bit of ballwork today (Tuesday) - just passing and shooting, the drills to get his fitness back. "He was kicking balls but I don't know if he's had a reaction. But watching him, he's getting there anyway. "Sylvan was out doing the same drills, as Doyle was, so we're hopeful and we've got our fingers crossed." Steven Fletcher and Stephen Ward led the line in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Birmingham and could remain in the starting line-up at Molineux this weekend.
