Centre-back insists Magpies can survive

Steven Taylor is confident Newcastle United can avoid Premier League relegation on the final day of the season. The Magpies slipped back into the drop zone on Saturday as Diomansy Kamara scored the only goal of the game to hand Fulham victory at St James' Park. Alan Shearer's side must now travel to Aston Villa on Sunday and hope to better the performance of fellow strugglers Hull City, who host champions Manchester United. But centre-back Taylor is confident he and his team-mates can record the neccesary result after upsetting Villa on Tyneside last November and defeating Middlesbrough seven days ago. "It's down to us as players. It's important we stick together," Taylor told the Newcastle Chronicle. "But the last game of the season is Aston Villa and there is no reason why we can't do it. "We beat them here 2-0 earlier this season and with the right sort of performance we can do it. "If we show the same belief and confidence we did against Middlesbrough we'll be OK."
