Defender makes permanent switch to Hillsborough

Sheffield Wednesday have completed the permanent signing of Lewis Buxton from Stoke. The defender enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Owls between October and the turn of the year, and has now penned a full-time deal. The 25-year-old, who made 16 appearances during his previous spell at Hillsborough, has signed a contract that is set to run until 2011. Wednesday boss Brian Laws is delighted to have brought Buxton on board and believes he will be a fine addition to his squad. "Lewis showed a tremendous attitude and really impressed me during his loan spell, on and off the pitch," Laws told the club's official website. "He's a versatile player, he slotted into a number of positions very well and has earned the chance to come here on a full transfer."

Great club

Buxton, meanwhile, is equally as happy to have resolved the issues surrounding his future. "I'm really pleased to get the move to Wednesday sorted and hopefully we can kick on from here," he said. "I enjoyed my time here on loan, it's a great club with a great set-up. "It's important for me to be playing football on a regular basis, that was the aim when I first came to the club and now that's my intention in the long-term."
