Espanyol are surprised that Steve Finnan's move to Hull has fallen through due to a failed medical.

Spaniards confident full-back is fit after failed medical

Espanyol have expressed surprise that Steve Finnan's move to Hull City has fallen through due to a failed medical. Hull had agreed a fee with Espanyol to bring Finnan back to the Premier League, just months after he had moved to Spain from Liverpool. However, the full-back's medical is understood to have shown up a thigh problem, while personal terms were also not agreed. Espanyol, though, believe that the defender is fit to play and would not have allowed him to travel to England if an injury was likely to prevent the transfer being completed. "Formally, we do not know about the report about an injury to his thigh, but for us the player is good physically," Espanyol's chief of medical staff Ignacio Sitges told the Spanish media. "If that were not true, then logically Finnan would not have travelled to England for the medical tests. "The footballer is in the perfect condition to play. We are surprised by this subject."
