Portsmouth defender Linvoy Primus' proposed loan move to Charlton has been shelved.

Veteran defender will not be heading to Charlton

Linvoy Primus' proposed loan move to Charlton has been shelved with Portsmouth unwilling to let him leave for more than six months. The 35-year-old centre-back was due to return to The Valley, the club where he started his career, on a season-long loan. Addicks boss Alan Pardew was eager to ease his defensive shortages following Madjid Bougherra's move to Rangers earlier in the summer. Primus has not played a league match for nearly 18 months after needing surgery for a severe knee injury. Pompey were happy to let him regain full match fitness in a spell with Charlton after he only recently signed a new one-year deal at Fratton Park. But manager Harry Redknapp insisted he would only allow the loan to last until the end of December and his stance has forced the deal to be called off.
