Owain Fon Williams - Tranmere
Tranmere kept their second clean sheet of the season in a commanding 4-0 victory over Colchester and Fon Williams was a steady presence between the sticks. The Welsh goalkeeper made some crucial saves to keep out the visitors; denying Anthony Wordsworth early on before producing blocks on shots from on-loan West Ham striker Freddie Sears and Marcus Bean in the second half.
Jon Otsemobor - MK Dons
The Dons also shut the opposition out for a second time this campaign and right-back Otsemober played a key role in keeping things tight in defence at home to Carlisle. The 29-year-old contributed several important challenges and while the hosts were mostly dominant in the first half, he dissolved an edgy moment before the break when he deflected Matty Robson's half-volley over the bar.
Richard Hinds - Yeovil
Yeovil are flying high in the League One table and remain unbeaten after their opening four games, with their latest win coming at home to Doncaster as they saw off their Yorkshire visitors 2-1. Experienced stopper Hinds produced a solid shift at the back and was unlucky not to claim a clean sheet with the Glovers as Billy Paynter sneaked in a stoppage-time consolation strike.
Kyle McFadzean - Crawley
League One newcomers Crawley have kept clean sheets in three of their four opening games this season and McFadzean's presence at the heart of defence has been a large factor in those results. Crawley edged a 1-0 win at home to Leyton Orient thanks to Nicky Ajose's winner and McFadzean was there to help keep the opposition at bay, particularly in a first half which saw the Os more than hold their own.
Zoumana Bakayogo - Tranmere
Bakayogo helped Rovers keep a clean sheet against Colchester while also showing his prowess going forward, getting on the scoresheet with his second goal in six games from defence. The 26-year-old Frenchman was a constant threat out on the left and saw his efforts rewarded when he applied a fine finish to Akpa Akpro's ball in the 58th minute.
Nicky Wroe - Preston
Stand-in skipper Wroe starred for Preston as he captained his side to a dominant 4-1 triumph at home to Swindon. The midfielder was on target with North End's second goal, diverting Scott Laird's low cross into the far corner after just 10 minutes. It was the second time in less than a week Preston had won by that scoreline at Deepdale following their commanding upset of Crystal Palace in the Capital One Cup, when Wroe netted a brace.
Antony Sweeney - Hartlepool
Hartlepool claimed their first win of the campaign with a 2-0 victory at home to Scunthorpe United and Sweeney was their main man in the middle of the park, contributing a fine display. The Pools veteran came tantalisingly close to scoring but was denied by Josh Walker as the Iron midfielder cleared his header off the line.
Ryan Flynn - Sheffield United
A dramatic encounter at Bramall Lane saw Sheffield United down Bournemouth 5-3 and Flynn was instrumental to the Blades' triumph. The 23-year-old scored a first-half double for the home side to put them in the driving seat then crowned an impressive display when his cross set up Richard Cresswell's strike after the break.
Nick Blackman - Sheffield United
Another Blades player to make this week's side is Blackman, who continued his bright start to life with the South Yorkshire club against the Cherries. The striker, leading the line alongside fellow new-boy John Cofie, played a key role in Flynn's first goal to give United the early edge. He capped a great performance when he coolly converted a stoppage-time penalty to hand Danny Wilson's side the win.
Jake Cassidy - Tranmere
Teenage striker Cassidy, on loan from Wolves, was undoubtedly Tranmere's main man against Colchester as his stunning hat-trick inspired their dominant win. The Wales Under-21 international scored five minutes before half-time and twice after the break as Rovers ripped apart the Us defence to keep up their fine start to the campaign.
Stuart Beavon - Preston
Beavon, on his Preston debut, was another key performer in North End's commanding win over Swindon, netting on the stroke of half-time to give the hosts the upper hand heading into the break. After playing an important role in his side's opening two goals, Beavon tapped in their third in the 43rd minute to crown a fine first appearance.
