Tim Clement looks at who will pile up the points in Sky Sports Fantasy Fooball this weekend

Carroll, Rooney and Lampard backed to shine this weekend

Andy Carroll will be rubbing his hands at the prospect of facing a brittle Arsenal backline ahead of Liverpool's trip to Emirates on Saturday. The Gunners are in disarray following the loss of captain Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona while the imminent departure of Samir Nasri and the failure to land replacements leaves a dark cloud hanging over the Emirates. That combined with the physical fragility of Arsenal's backline, with Arsene Wenger yet to make any notable improvements to his squad, makes it the ideal time for Liverpool to travel to North London. Carroll looked dangerous and had a disputable goal disallowed in an impressive first 45 minutes before Liverpool slipped off the boil in their 1-1 draw with Sunderland, plus the England frontman is more likely to complete the 90 minutes than his strike partner Luis Suarez. However, plenty have turned to the Uruguayan after seeing him net on the opening day and taking on penalty duties, although Sky Sports Fantasy Football points are earned for goals not conversions.

Expensive option

Wayne Rooney is another player well poised to pick up points this week if you've got £9.9m sitting around. Having bagged in Manchester United's 2-1 win at West Brom on Sunday, the 25-year-old will be confident of improving on an already impressive record of five goals in his last seven meetings against Tottenham with United unbeaten against Spurs in 20, winning 15 of them. However, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and Rafael will all miss the Spurs clash with calf, hamstring and shoulder injuries, with the former out for around five weeks while his defensive partner is in contention to face Arsenal on August 28. The Brazilian full-back facing 10 weeks out. Those absentees make the likes of Chris Smalling (£5.6), Fabio (£5.8m) and Phil Jones (£5.7m) relative bargains, although a shaky start for young United keeper David de Gea (5.8m) makes the United backline look somewhat less appealing than their title rivals. Spurs showed their goal threat on Thursday night with a 5-0 thumping of Hearts, making goalscorers Gareth Bale (£7.7m) and Rafael van der Vaart (8.7m) look tempting, but upcoming clashes with United and City make any such moves worth delaying.

Time for Torres?

Chelsea players will be expected to score big when West Brom visit the Bridge, having hammered six past them there last term, but signing up one of their strikers still looks a gamble. Fernando Torres impressed sufficiently to pick up the man of the match award at Stoke but still only has a single goal to his name since joining the Blues, making his £9.4m fee somewhat hefty, while none of the other Chelsea strikers are guaranteed a start. Frank Lampard (£9m) is expensive but often a key instigator when the Blues win big with penalty-taking duties invaluable if his side are more fortuitous with spot-kick shouts than against Stoke. Meanwhile, Chelsea's defenders look a safe shout given the Blues have won all 10 Premier League games against West Brom, conceding just three goals, while in contrast last term saw West Brom only kept two clean sheets - the lowest ever amount in a single Premier League season. Plenty will be plumping for Darren Bent this week as Aston Villa host a Blackburn side which look destined for a tough battle to stay in the Premier League this season.

Bent to bag

Bent netted 17 league goals last season and has scored three goals in his last four Premier League games against Rovers, while Charles N'Zogbia also looks a good option against a side who have won just two of their last 15 Premier League games. Sergio Aguero was the highest scoring player last weekend with 14 points notched up during his 30-minute cameo against Wigan, but the Argentina star faces a sterner test as City visit a Bolton side full of confidence following their 4-0 victory at QPR. Elsewhere, Tim Cahill (6.4m) and Leighton Baines (7.1m) should be good for points as QPR face a tough task in bouncing back off the ropes after their opening-day defeat at a side unbeaten in 11 at home. Swansea and Wigan offer slim pickings but Michel Vorm (£3.8m) impressed on his debut in keeping out Manchester City for 57 minutes and sits behind a defence that kept the most clean sheets in the Championship last season. Scott Sinclair (£5m), Victor Moses (£4.6m) and Ben Watson (£4.9m) were more successful in picking up points last week and look good for goals from midfield. At Carrow Road, Norwich's leaky backline and Stoke's inefficiency on the road cancels out most options but Wes Hoolahan might be worth backing to add to his opening-day goal at £4.9m, while there are even fewer reasons to touch in on an uninspiring clash between Wolves and Fulham at Molineux. Remember, with it still being gameweek 1 until Monday 23, your captaincy choice will remain for this weekend, although any transfers will come in to effect as long as they are confirmed by the start of any given match day.
