Sheffield United new boy Daniel Bogdanovic is hoping to fire his club to promotion from the Championship this season.
Blades boss Kevin Blackwell snapped up Bogdanovic on a free transfer earlier this summer after he caught the eye at South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley last term.
The 30-year-old scored 14 goals for the Tykes last season and Blackwell moved quickly for the Maltese ace after he became available on a free transfer.
Bogdanovic is enjoying life at Bramall Lane and he is confident his new employers have the quality to be challenging for promotion to the Premier League.
"I can't wait for the new season to start,"
Bogdanovic told skysports.com
"It has been a very hard pre-season, but that will make a difference in the long run during the season.
"I believe we are one of the contenders [for promotion].
"I am confident with the team we have, the staff we have and the acquisition of new players we will be challenging at the top of the table.
"Everything has been good so far and everyone at the club has helped me settle in very well."
Bogdanovic does not believe there are any clear favourites for the Championship title, feeling it will be a wide open race.
"You look at the clubs that have come down from the Premier League and they have some big names, but there are no favourites at all.
"You just have to see what Blackpool did last season in winning promotion.
"We all start on the same level on 8th August; we all start on zero points and start with the same possibilities.
"After a few months of the season we will then see who is challenging at the top of the table."
Bogdanovic admits it was a wrench to leave Barnsley, but is relishing the challenge he faces at Sheffield United.
"Some things in life are meant to be and this [move] was meant to be for me," added Bogdanovic.
"I believe I am playing for a better team and it is an honour for me to wear the shirt of Sheffield United."
The striker is looking forward to coming up against his former club later in the season, with Bogdanovic returning to Oakwell on 11th December with his new side.
"I can't wait to go back to Barnsley and hopefully I will get a good reception from the Barnsley fans," noted Bogdanovic.
"It will be a special game for me and of course it will be tough game as it is a derby."
Bogdanovic admits he has set himself an immediate target of hitting ten goals, but he is hoping to surpass that tally.
"For me I set myself a target of ten goals onwards and if I get that I set myself another target," added Bogdanovic.
"But as I have always said the most important thing is the team wins as it is not so important that I score."
