Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane have been assessed by doctors after the Republic of Ireland management team were involved in a minor car collision near Dublin.

The Football Association of Ireland confirmed on Twitter that the Ireland management had been “rear-ended in traffic” while travelling on the M50 near Blanchardstown.

"The ROI mgmt team were involved in collision on M50 earlier. Vehicle was rear ended in traffic. Have rtn'd to hotel & been seen by team Doc."

A spokesperson said O'Neill and Keane were accompanied by coaches Seamus McDonagh, Steve Guppy and Steve Walford at the time of the accident.

The worst any of the five suffered were minor injuries, the FAI confirmed, with the team doctor able to look after their scrapes.

O'Neill and Keane are expected to return to their duties ahead of Ireland’s crucial European qualifier on Saturday against Scotland at the Aviva Stadium.

Scotland currently sit third in Group D behind Poland and Germany, while Ireland are in fourth.
