The Premier League has brought forward the close of the transfer window to 5pm on Tuesday, September 1.

The switch from the usual 11pm deadline has been made to allow those clubs involved in the Champions League time to submit their squads for the competition, with the deadline for registration coming at midnight on the same day.

The move will mean an earlier start for Sky Sports News HQ's Jim White, who traditionally anchors the final hours of Deadline Day, while clubs may be forced to battle rush hour to force thorugh any last-minute deals.

They have been given the extra day to do their business because August 31 is Bank Holiday Monday.

The transfer deadline for Scottish Professional Football League clubs is midnight on September 1.

The Football League deadline is yet to be confirmed.
